The Ultimate Fighting Championship (or UFC in the fight circles) was re-invented in January 2001, by Zuffa, LLC.
The UFC has completely restructured the formerly undisciplined spectacle of mixed martial arts into a highly-organized and controlled combat sport.
Under the leadership of owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta, the new UFC is now regulated and recognized by the world’s most prestigious sport regulatory bodies including Nevada, California, New Jersey, Florida and Louisiana.
As an association, the UFC strives for the highest safety and quality in all aspects of the sport, setting the goal standard for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. As a result the UFC took the leadership role in obtaining commission approval for a new sport governed by the top regulatory bodies in the country. It strictly adheres to a stringent set of rules, even if they present an event in a unregulated venue outside the
United States.

self-imposes more rigorous safety and medical testing procedures than any other MMA organization in the world. In 2007, UFC Is the top selling sports DVD series in America. Each fight event is supported by an extensive public relations and marketing campaign generating millions of consumer impressions. Over $2 million is spent on advertising and marketing each live pay-per-view event and each UFC main event continues to outsell the previous event in pay-per-view and ticket sales.

, Saturday, Sept. 8 and telecast on Spike TV, ranks number five overall for year 2007.
UFC 75 is outranked only by four Monday Night Football games on ESPN and featured the first-ever UFC/PRIDE unification title fight between Rampage Jackson and Dan Henderson. The event easily crushed other competition including the 2007 NBA All-Star Game, Home Run Derby, every WWE RAW program, all of the NBA Playoffs games, and had over two million more viewers than Major League Baseball’s historic rivalry “Yankees vs. Red Sox”.
